3/11 NewsGang Notes (here's the show)
After George Tirebiter, the gang went serious. Steve calls on Amyloo's blogpost from the morning questioning that "now that we have a twittergang, what do we do now"? Steve asked for a plan. Cliff noticed that HRC might push herself on the ticket. Steve applauded this idea as there not being a stronger pair. There is some gold to be mined in the direct confrontation with the motivations behind the Clinton campaign. Don't fight it, embrace it. We have to do whatever we need to, to facilitate it. Obama as candidate, HRC as VP. Discussion of Obama framing the discussion around the war tied to the economy. Frame the war about completion with honor. Eventually Steve relates this year back to 1968 in media, creative arts, humor and music.

We're at a confluence of events and technologies, communication systems, that can have a tremendous impact on what is going on over the next 6 months.

Simple question - Steve won't get an answer today per Amyloo's post.
Rates it a C+. We can either float on to the next cool social media technology and just keep ahead of the fun curve or we can take a look at whats going on here and get serious about what the implications of it are and what can be accelerated by the use of this perfect storm which is emerging, in the
technology community we're seeing some real volitilty that is very similiar to, sort of a virtualization of what happened on the streets of Chicago in '68.

What CAN we do?

  • Get press pass for Karoli
  • Twitter feed to track delegate commitments
  • All posts to a persistent store

Steve strongly suggests the strategy he uses with NewsGang.

  • A widget to display the delegate information we develop.

Listen to the show for all the details.

So far today, I had a long conversation with the Obama central call staff. The person I spoke to was not technically inclined but was enthusiastic. I left the link to the NewsGang audio, the twitter name and my phone number, twitter name and email. As of 4:30p dst, no reply.

Maybe everyone should call (last option) at (866) 675-2008. Give NewsGang site so they can listen & correlate us.

I'm thinking of calling my state campaign reps and see if we can get them on board. Will that raise visibility and help get access?

I'm open for other ideas to try. Pass them along.

I've been listening to the super delegate discussion without actually digging in to the details. These sites provide a consolidated view I hadn't seen and appeal to my lazy side.
