Wow. Missed 106 Days. A little short on consistency. Life became tumultuous at the begining of November. After a few updates I succumbed. March. a quick catch up.
Highlights:
During November I continued to be pleasantly surprised at progress with my knee. I continued the exercises from my physical therapy a few times a week. My wife and I had began a weight control program in October and by late November I found that the knee brace fit inconsistently as I lost weight and built muscle in my legs. This resulted in the brace twisting my knee and actually causing more pain than not wearing it. I went through stages of trying (sometimes successfully) to adjust and other times just not wearing it.
This was a large mistake that led to a setback in December. On the 9th we had a reasonable snow that left a heavy dense covering. I shoveled for a number of hours (>3). This left both legs extremely sore. In fact, I was set back to a level of pain I hadn't had since before the procedure. The aforementioned tumult left me less than motivated to work through the pain and continue my exercises.
While I continued on the diet/nutrition program, the exercising pretty much stopped. This was true until sometime in January. I got fed up with the pain in my legs. I had my leg brace adjusted by the prosthetics company and decided to start on the stationary bike again to stretch my legs. This turned out to be successful and provided some relief from the pain. I then began to use the Wii Fit with my wife which accelerated my progress.
By mid-February I had lost more than 20 pounds and the exercise brought me to a point where I started taking the stairs again for two flight walks up AND down.
As of March, I've now lost at least 25 pounds and feel that the 'repaired' knee is doing better than my right one.
And now, I hope to provide more details as I get back to consistenty posting.
