Comments on Dave and Karoli's Wright Posts

Dave Winer recently posted a perspective on some of the Reverend Wright statements about America. I too have a heritage in Judaism. I would extend Dave's analogy to the centuries of persecution "my people" have experienced. If I were to hold each individual responsible for the acts of their fathers, I would have a very limited opportunity to interact in the present.

Twittering old fool

As I write this (2008.03.02), I've been a twitter user for about 2 weeks and I've just embarrased myself with Steve Gillmor on NewsGang Live.
So, I decided to do some homework and share with the class. I'm normally ok with new tools, but with twitter, there's been a disconnect.

The Healthcare Difference

Do Presidents Matter? (Time 2/18/2008)

The article suggests that tax cuts (or not) and health care (or not) are the big economic differentiators in this election. My observation is that stemming (or not) the $275 million per day flow of funds to Iraq is the real differentiator. How's the saying go: "a hundred billion here and a hundred billion there and pretty soon you're talking about real money".

Skeptics Guide to the Universe - 2007-11-28

I'm catching up on all things sceptical. This episode of the Skeptics Guide introduced me to some terminology and argument that was new to me.

Why we don’t believe in big media

Business Week ran these numbers (in millions) on the “Oscar Economy”.
$54 Spending on Ads by the competing studios
$51 Cost of main broadcast
$26 Limos, security and gifts for nominees
That $131 million of playtime for people that make millions per picture.
Give me a break!
